Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Coordinator (or Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement) for Affinity Programs is responsible for managing and implementing alumni engagement efforts with affinity groups, bringing together alumni and friends with shared identities, interests, and experiences while also embedding philanthropic awareness.
Generalized Responsibilities Include:
1. In partnership with Advancement Communications colleagues, develop a communication strategy to engage affinity members with a goal of cultivating a deeper sense of belonging among alumni in affinity groups. Using standard communications metrics, measure and adjust the communications plan to be efficient and effective.
2. Partner with WCU staff to plan, promote, and execute affinity-centered events and programming to expand alumni engagement.
3. Develop and manage a network of alumni ambassadors for each affinity group.
4. Manage a portfolio of at least 75 identified affinity-based constituents and develop appropriate engagement plans for portfolio alumni.
5. Create and execute a visitation strategy with an overall goal of identifying and qualifying a minimum of 50 alumni annually.
6. In partnership with annual giving colleagues, identify opportunities for affinity group alumni to participate philanthropically with the university. Support Advancement fundraising efforts, including giving campaigns and campus-wide giving days.
7. In partnership with alumni engagement colleagues, contribute toward affinity-related and marquee events.
8. In coordination with Advancement Services colleagues, maintain and improve alumni data and contact information in Raiser’s Edge.
9. Regularly assess engagement among affinity-based groups and report to Alumni Engagement staff.
10. Support the WCU Alumni Association Board of Directors as a board committee liaison. Under the direction of the Director of Alumni Engagement, prepare reports, design engagement activities, and deploy directors to grow engagement among affinity groups.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
