Job Summary: The Program Manager provides oversight and planning for the development, implementation, and delivery of a program(s).
Additional Department Summary: Program Manager directs all aspects of the daily function of the research study. Manages institutional review board (IRB) approvals, modifications and renewals; works with NH corporations, NHs, and the study teams to oversee participant identification and recruitment; coordinates and takes part in participant consenting and NH staff interviews; conducts NH data collection trips; coordinates data collection and oversees activities of the graduate research assistants; conducts regular quality checks of data collection, entry and file management processes, and assists with data analysis, dissemination and progress reports to NIH and The University of Alabama.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: PhD or Masters Degree in a psychosocial health- or public-health-related field.
Must have valid U.S. driver’s license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Requires skills in project management, team management, data management, federal clinical trials regulatory documentation and informed consent processes, and basic psychosocial data collection skills (i.e., collection of data following standardized protocols, qualitative interviewing, informed consent). Requires knowledge of nursing home settings and processes; interaction best practices for persons with dementia and their representatives.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to manage and work with large teams and busy nursing home staff and leaders across the country. Must have excellent computer skills. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat. Must be highly proficient in working with actigraph computer programs and equipment.
