Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic, assigned to Moss Landing Marine Laboratories Department (MLML), reports directly to the Resource Manager and is under the general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, will work independently or as a team member. The incumbent works as a skilled generalist utilizing journey level skills in HVAC trades along with strong skills in other trade areas (plumbing, mechanical, electrical, carpentry) to perform a variety of skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction, and renovation work on MLML facilities and their respective building, infrastructure and utility systems so as to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive campus, learning, and research environment. The incumbent uses a computerized maintenance system to ensure the preventive maintenance program objectives are met and also provides safety instructions and directions to unskilled or semi-skilled assistants.
