Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in
Accounting or a related field; or the equivalent work experience (4+ years of demonstrated, progressive work experience in budget/accounting
roles)
Experience in accounting
Experience in budgeting, internal controls, and general
administration.
Ability to lead and exercise sound judgment, high level of organizational skills, high ethical standards and
strong work ethic, commitment to high performance and accountability.
License/Certification Required
None

Qualifications
Experience in Not-for-Profit or Governmental Accounting
4 years of progressive
accounting and/or budget management experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Monitoring and Analysis (60%):
Budget duties:
Manage and monitor Advancement division budgets, providing monthly budget reconciliation and reporting for State and Foundation funds.
Monitor position budgets and process position changes. Assist with preparing, reviewing and administering the Foundation’s annual operating
budget.
Accounting Duties: Prepare daily entries including pledge reconciliation and stock gifts. Complete the monthly
reconciliations and transactions including auxiliary billing, interest income, interest expense, and investments as necessary. Prepare
monthly financial statements. Complete the quarterly entries for vehicle mileage, cash transfer, gift annuities and others as necessary.
Complete accounts payable process for assigned funds including travel reimbursements, purchasing cards, and direct payments forms as
necessary. Assist with preparation of annual financial statements. Identify and resolve issues related to these duties. Review reports for
unfavorable trends, unusual items, deviations, or control risks – and propose appropriate solutions.
Professional Knowledge (15%) –
Knowledge of the following: Banner Finance and reporting tools, approved uses of various types of funding sources, and Excel. Understanding
of nonprofit and/or government accounting. Apply knowledge of accounts, funds, Banner and correlated systems to transactional and reporting
duties to foster continuous improvement. Apply knowledge of GAAP, tax and other regulations to evaluate compliance
and prepare reports.
Decision Making (10%) – Participate in problem resolution efforts regarding budget and accounting issues. Assist
with resolving payroll issues for University Advancement. Assist with review and development of policies and procedures for accounting
office. Independently identify and resolve issues related to allocation of costs between State and Foundation funds to best optimize
resources, for both current and future transactions and budgets.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills (15%) – Discuss budget,
accounting and accounts payable questions as needed with University Advancement and other departments. Communicate clearly and effectively
with University Advancement administrative staff regarding accounting and budgeting processes and policies.
