Duties and Responsibilities:
Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer, beginning Fall 2024. The position has a renewable contract. Lecturers are full members of the faculty with all privileges and rights afforded them by university policy and a collective bargaining agreement. Additionally, this position is eligible for promotion (ranks include Lecturer, Advanced Lecturer, and Senior Lecturer) The Department of Biology has 48 full-time faculty serving 1,600 majors and is located on the university’s Lakeshore Campus. This position involves teaching freshman-level General Biology lecture and lab sections and other undergraduate courses as needed, potentially including more advanced courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The standard teaching load for the Lecturer position is 4 courses per semester. Other duties shall include student advising, departmental/university service, and professional development.

Requirements include a PhD in biology or a related field and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels. The candidate also should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
