Medical Intake Authorization Specialist

Interventional Pain Physicians is seeking a qualified Medical Intake Authorization Specialist to work full time Monday-Friday in our Chico, CA location. Primary Responsibilities:

• Complete insurance verification to determine patient’s eligibility, coverage, co-insurances, and deductibles
• Obtain pre-authorization if required by an insurance carrier and process physician orders to insurance carriers for approval and authorization when required
• Verify insurance carriers are listed in the company’s database system
• Document all patient information in EMR patient database
• Responsible for contacting patient when documentation received does not meet payer guidelines to provide updates and offer additional options to facilitate the authorization process
• Facilitate resolution on customer complaints and problem solving
• Actively listens to patients and handle stressful situations with compassion and empathy
• Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education, Qualifications, & Skills:

• Two or more years of professional knowledge of obtaining insurance authorizations and insurance benefits
• Two or more years of experience applying knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care reimbursement guidelines
• Two or more years of professional knowledge of Health Insurance
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD and CPT codes
• Work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
• Must have good customer service and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and establish priorities
• Excellent organizational, data entry, phone and computer skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $28.00 per hour
