Job Description:This position will provide instruction to individuals of diverse backgrounds and skill levels as they try to obtain sufficient knowledge, skill and ability to test with a Third Party Examiner and obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, B, or C Driver License.
The position will provide instruction to students in all rotations of the Aims’ CDL Training Program located at the Fort Lupton campus. These program rotations include: classroom, driving simulator (planned); pre-trip inspection (lot training); maneuvers (i.e. backing, cones-lot training); shifting/gears/clutch (on Aims shifting track); and actual in-truck driving hours on private and public roads. Individuals in this position must be able to determine the skill level of each student in order to help them navigate through the short term, job accelerated training program.
They must demonstrate effective communication skills and professionalism with students at all times. Individuals in this position must maintain a thorough understanding of all state regulations concerning the operation of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). In addition, they must strictly adhere to all state regulations set by the State of Colorado, Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles and the State CDL Compliance Office.
Conduct Field Training Using Established CDL Curriculum:
Administrative Tasks, Forms, and Documentation, Meetings, Etc…
Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience operating a CMV requiring a CDL of the same (or higher) class, or the same endorsement OR have a minimum of two years’ experience as a BTW CMV instructor.
Hold a CDL of the same (or higher) class, and with all endorsements necessary, to operate the CMV for which training is to be provided. (Class A CDL required).
Meet all applicable State qualification requirements for CMV instructors.
Valid/non-expired DOT Medical Card/Certification.
Demonstrate basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, specialized software in order to be able to teach classroom and driving simulation portions of program).
This position requires the use of a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
Ability to pass initial and required random 11-panel drug screens.
Ability to stand on pavement (training lot) for extended periods of time in all types of weather.
A pre-employment post-offer physical examination will be required.
Ability to instruct/train in inclement weather.
Must be able to bend and pick up traffic cones.
