About the Role:
As a Director
of People Development (Leader & Organizational), you will be accountable for overseeing the development, implementation and enhancement
of leadership development and organizational development strategies to support the success of WGU key results and business objectives, and
to manage the continued development of WGU talent. You will also be responsible for recruiting and leading a team of thought leaders and
professionals to articulate, scale, and influence leader and organizational development strategies such as: senior leader/people leader
onboarding and development, performance management, culture transformation, career pathing and succession, and coaching. You will establish
clear performance expectations with your team and deliver results, which are consistent with university goals and department
responsibilities. Additionally, you will manage external partnerships with vendors.
To be successful, you will need to have extensive
experience working within a virtual environment, possess a flexible nature, and demonstrate the ability to advocate for innovation. You will
report directly to our VP of People Development. This role can be hybrid, and will be based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
What you
will do:
Create and articulate an integrated vision, strategy and goals for scope of team’s work, acting as a
champion to achieve a culture of innovation; this includes new approaches, practices and processes that improve the effectiveness of our
workforce.
Develop and implement strategies and goals that will maximize the synergies among WGU, support WGU strategic and
operational plans, and meet organizational needs for effective leadership and organizational development.
Demonstrate the
ability to identify and communicate organizational and leader development needs to key stakeholders, including integrating workforce
planning data with learning and development plans.
Lead a team responsible for the co-development and facilitation of both
synchronous and asynchronous leadership development and other talent management initiatives.
Lead a team of thought leaders
and experts to create/enhance and implement a clear vision with comprehensive organizational development strategies, processes and tools in
focus areas such as: Performance management and goals; Career pathing and succession planning, including alignment of individual development
plans and the adoption of clear/transferrable competencies; Culture transformation and employee experience; and Comprehensive coaching
approach
Exhibit deep analytical knowledge of interpreting complex data to meet business goals and objectives, including
identifying and tracking key metrics that effectively measure the success of strategies and development programs.
Collaborate
across People Development, People & Talent, and key stakeholders to ensure aligned, coordinated strategies, programs and platforms, with
clear messaging, content and branding consistency.
Partner with WGU leaders to assess talent gaps and development needs to
build a talent plan and strong leadership bench for key/future positions.
Partner across People Development in the
administration of departmental information management systems including internal communities, knowledge base, documents,
and learning materials.
Demonstrate a deep knowledge of adult learning, developmental theories, and transformational coaching
methodologies.
Communicate WGU’s mission and strategic vision effectively, consistently, and lead by
example.
Consistently role model WGU’s Leadership Principles and Cultural Beliefs.
What you will
need:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.
Minimum of 5 years progressive management/leadership
experience.
Leadership experience in designing and implementing learning methodologies across a large, distributed
workforce.
Experience in developing, implementing, and leading virtual learning programs.
In depth experience
in organizational leadership to include the ability to coach staff, manage priorities, develop high-performance teams, set and achieve
strategic objectives, and managing department budgets.
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach
to business planning.
Ability to work effectively across a complex organization with diverse groups of
people.
Extraordinary customer service and communication skills
Exemplary presentation skills with the ability
to translate quantitative and qualitative analyses into engaging, informative, and persuasive communication in large and small group
settings.
Demonstrated experience in collaborating for results, listening to understand and evaluate business
needs.
Ability to travel, as needed.
