Job Summary/Basic Function
The position provides expert guidance in the application of instructional technologies and provides consulting, training, and support in the use of both existing and emerging technologies. Provide tier-2 support in pedagogical setting including distance learning, hybrid, or traditional face-to-face courses. Provide online resources for teaching, learning, and documenting educational activities to support WSU students, faculty, and staff. Develop and deliver training for enterprise-level, learning technologies used for course management, web conferencing, and active learning.

Essential Functions and percent of time
55% – Tier 2 Technology Support Consult,
Advise, and support customers via phone, email, or in person, in the effective use of instructional technology used in distance learning, hybrid, flexible delivery, and face to face. Technology includes but is not limited to; learning management system, web collaboration applications, online testing, and other services used to deliver academic instruction. Administer a variety of applications supporting instructional technology such as BrightSpace, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, WebEx, and Faculty Evaluation Kit. Support the integration of classroom and educational technologies with teaching and learning pedagogies. Consult with faculty, both pedagogically and practically, in the development and successful delivery of quality flexible and blended courses. Work with faculty to identify impactful instructional technologies, both hardware and software, inside and outside of the classroom, and the application of best practices through course development, building, delivery, quality assurance, and preparation of materials. Adhere to best practices for service management.

25% – Training and Development
Serve as functional expert for training and training development for instructional technology. Develop and deliver innovative and compelling training programs for current and future WSU instructional technology services. Effective delivery methods may include but are not limited to face to face, audio/video delivered (e-learning), and informal collaborative sessions. Present information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures. Schedule sessions based on availability of classrooms, equipment, and instructors. Keep up with evolving trends by reading current journals, books and attending personal development training. Assess training needs to include but not limited to: surveys, interviews with faculty, focus groups, and/or consultation with managers, supervisors or CaTS Help Desk staff. Develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
20% – Develop and Maintain Knowledge Management Materials
Design, develop, revise, document, and market custom knowledge materials to include but not limited to: short self-help videos, manuals, quick-reference guides, presentations, job aids and printed training guides. Identify methods to convert technical documents and information into innovative online learning content for use in online delivery of course materials. Identify and characterize reoccurring patterns in the service and incident management process; determine scope and affected community and develop solutions using educational materials to reduce request volume. Engage in outreach activities with faculty to ease the transition to new technologies. Identify new services and opportunities for process improvement.
