Job Summary:
The 4-H Educator is an integral part of the UW-Madison Division of Extension 4-H Program, which is housed within the Positive youth Development (PYD) Institute and works alongside the people of Wisconsin to improve lives and communities. The PYD Institute provides works to catalyze positive change to engage Wisconsin youth in opportunities they need to learn, lead, grow, and thrive. The Wisconsin 4-H program is a youth-driven, volunteer-supported organization committed to expanding access to all and empowering youth to thrive.
The 4-H Program Educator leads and manages the full range of the 4-H program including in-school and after school programs, and educational experiences. Program Educators also designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus.
The ideal candidate is adept at building and maintaining trust-based relationships, engaging stakeholders, and applying an equity lens towards transforming lives and communities. As such, candidates are expected to foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.
Initial programming focus will include:
* Developing relationships with community schools and youth coalitions with efforts to create direct delivery of in-school and after school 4-H programs.
* Cultivating collaborative efforts and partnerships with other organizations to expand 4-H programming opportunities.
* Expanding 4-H membership and volunteer opportunities to underserved youth and adults.
* Recruiting, training, developing, and managing AmeriCorps hires, interns, and volunteers focused on helping youth develop life skills that promote ongoing community involvement and strengthen youth leadership development.
* Strengthening the 4-H program by providing leadership for marketing, communications, member recruitment and member retention for direct delivery 4-H programs in-school, after school, and to other youth organizations in the community.
Responsibilities:
Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.

Qualifications:
Required:
* Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish. Language skills will be assessed
* Demonstrated experience in programming and/or service delivery related to youth development
* Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments
* Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively
* Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity
Preferred:
* Experience working cooperatively with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations to address educational needs
* Demonstrate experience managing and/or supervising staff or volunteers
* Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict
* Ability to apply relevant policies, procedures, and regulations including reporting requirements and risk and data management

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Please note that some benefits such as paid time off will be pro-rated by appointment percentage.
Upon the successful completion of a Language Proficiency Assessment, a `bilingual” pre-fix will be added to the official title. The bilingual pre-fix is accompanied by a $3500.00 pay increase applied to the annual salary.
