The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Lab and Research Technician 2 to perform and assist with laboratory management and experimental procedures in Dr. Elise Cope’s laboratory. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the lab’s animal colony, assisting in animal experiments, conducting immunohistochemical procedures, ordering lab supplies, maintaining lab equipment, and helping to train undergraduate students.
Job responsibilities include:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate’s degree
Experience: At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience. Bachelor’s degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience.
Candidates that have previous research experience with rodent models, histology, and confocal microscopy are preferred. The successful candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills and be a self-starter with strong attention to details. Qualified candidates should also possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
