How to Apply
Summary
The Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy (CLOSUP) at the University of Michigan conducts, supports, and fosters engaged academic research to inform local, state, and urban policy issues. We are looking for a Research & Data Specialist to support all phases of research and outreach of two of our core activities, the Michigan Public Policy Survey (MPPS) and the Fiscal Health Project (FHP). The MPPS is the nation’s only on-going census-style survey of all local jurisdictions across an entire state, and the FHP is conducting an ambitious project to reform and modernize local government financial reporting through XBRL (extensible business reporting language) in an approach intended to serve as a national model. As a Research & Data Specialist you will also engage in other Center activities, including support for CLOSUP’s outreach through its website, social media, and more, and will report to CLOSUP’s program and project managers.
The Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy (CLOSUP) is housed at the Ford School of Public Policy. The Ford School is one of the nation’s foremost policy schools, part of one of the world’s great public universities. We lead research that illuminates public policy challenges and opportunities, educate future policy leaders and analysts, and work with policymakers to inform and improve local, state, national, and international policies. Our dedication to the public good is grounded in our core values and inseparable from our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
