Position Description:
Manage all aspects of graduate student affairs for the department. Act as liaison for the department to the school, campus and community in regards to student affairs and other related issues. Provide comprehensive, need-specific academic and procedural counseling to 500 + students. Supervise admissions, readmissions and renewal procedures for graduate study of approximately 2600 + applications per year. Respond to all inquiries regarding a wide range of areas from program requirements to directions. Advice applicants, students, staff and faculty regarding University, School and Department regulations, policies, procedures for graduate degree programs. Monitor and audit the degree progression of students. Compile pertinent data to make recommendations to the chair and faculty regarding curriculum, student programs, and financial aid. In cooperation with the school and campus offices, record, process and analyze all aspects pertaining to student funding. Create and maintain the department student databases and files from applications, enrollments, to tracking student progress. Inform and advise faculty committees producing reports as needed. Coordinate Graduate course scheduling, analyze course offerings and verify course sequencing in order to maintain continuity and logical progression of academic development. Provide backup for general office duties as necessary on daily operations to assist Department Vice Chair, MSO, faculty, students and special projects. This position will help ensure that potential students receive personalized and responsive attention.
