In this role, you can expect to have some of these responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day security operations, including data protection, network monitoring, endpoint monitoring, and log analysis
  • Investigate abnormalities, anomalies, events, and incidents detected; invoke incident response procedures as appropriate, including performing remediation
  • Document all detective observations and responsive actions taken
• Perform assigned monitoring, management, maintenance, and modification of security technology solutions which governs access to information or information systems
  • Such solutions, includes endpoint protection, vulnerability management, Internet content filtering, email threat protection, and intrusion detection systems
• Analyze asset vulnerabilities through the use of various information sources and solutions, document all analysis, report vulnerability results to asset owners, and track remediation outcomes; escalate as appropriate
• Monitor and review assigned internal controls for defects, gaps, or inefficiencies
  • Document findings and propose changes to management
  • Perform control changes as approved
• Develop automated solutions to simple business problems with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, python, bash) to assigned tasks.
• Assist with educating credit union staff on recognizing, responding, and reporting security incidents involving threats to information systems or unauthorized attempts to obtain member information
• Actively participate with approved information security sharing and intelligence organizations
• Maintain assigned elements of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans
• Monitor and interact with external third-party resources involved in managing information security controls, conducting assessments, or performing audits
• Responsible for compliance with Credit Union policies including the Bank Secrecy Act and Customer Identification Program

Performance Measurements

• Adhere to the Credit Union Service Standards in all interactions both internal and external as well as employing CML (Creating Member Loyalty) skills
• Maintain a breadth of knowledge regarding current technologies, security compliance requirements, standards, industry trends, and attack techniques
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral, including occasional presentations at meetings
• Work under minimal supervision on semi-complex to complex work assignments and recommend appropriate solutions and problem resolution
• Maintain familiarity with security and control frameworks, such as CIS Critical Security Controls and NIST Cyber Security Framework
• Understand/document security observations and actions taken in a clear and concise manner

Now that you know what you will be doing, here’s what you need to do it:

• One year to three years of similar or related experience
• (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program
• Interpersonal skills work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature
  • Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level
  • Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others
• Must possess strong analytical skills along with effective written and oral communications, being able to document security observations in a clear and concise manner
• Should have experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, Windows event monitoring, IDS/IPS, routers, firewalls, and scripting
• Must be knowledgeable of how traffic flows across the network (TCP/IP, UDP, OSI), network security architecture concepts (topology, protocols, components, principles), and cybersecurity/privacy principles (confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation)

Physical Requirements

This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. As required or requested, may exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
