Agency Specific Application Procedures:
Finalists are subject to a criminal background check, submission of his/her motor vehicle driving record, a CDL road test (regardless of whether or not he/she holds a current CDL), and a DOT physical. The DOT physical and submission of motor vehicle driving record will be conducted at the expense of the applicant. Finalists must have a current Class A CDL.

Job Responsibilities

Tri-County Technical College is seeking a passionate, dedicated person to serve as a Commercial Driving License (CDL) Lecturer. This position will instruct Commercial Driving/Truck Driving in our Corporate and Community Education Division.

This position requires the following:

• Instruction of both classroom and hands-on curriculum.
• Occasionally performing minor repairs on training equipment (for example changing light bulbs, repairing or replacing hoses, adjusting brakes, etc.).
• Occasional travel.

This position may also occasionally require extended hours, night work, and weekend hours.

Lecturers will be eligible for health insurance under the ACA and PEBA guidelines. Lecturers will be eligible for retirement benefits, as are all temporary employees. Lecturers are not eligible for paid holidays or leave; they are paid only for hours worked under SC law. 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

• At least 21 years old
• Hold a valid SC CDL license with no record of suspension within the past three years
• At least three years of behind-the-wheel truck driving experience
• Physically capable of climbing into a truck and climbing onto and under a truck to perform minor repairs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed a certified truck driving training school
• Instructor experience in truck driver training
