Department Summary: The Proposal Development Administrator supports Capstone College of Nursing faculty and students in grant development, writing, editing, report and letter writing. Assists college faculty members in the preparation of competitive individual and institutional National Institutes of Health (NIH), Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI), Southern Nursing Research Society (SNRS), and other grant applications on a variety of science and health-related topics. Manages technical writing, journal article writing, grantsmanship and provide editorial support. Oversees the project management and scientific writing process for individuals. Oversees complex multi-investigator and multi-site grant applications. Assists with regular reporting and final reporting. Writes letters of nomination and support for faculty awards, college awards, and other individual group and College funding opportunities.
The Capstone College of Nursing (CCN), through its scholarship mission, works to promote the health and well-being of the people of the state of Alabama, the nation, and the world. The Office of Scholarly Affairs provides infrastructure and support to faculty members in their scholarly pursuits to achieve the College’s mission. This position will be an integral part of the OSA (Office of Scholarly Affairs) and CCN team, which supports grants planning, proposal preparation, manuscript development and related activities to enable CCN and associated faculty and leaders to attract, obtain and retain extramural federal and other peer-reviewed research and grant funding.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in proposal, contract, or research project development administration.
Skills and Knowledge: Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Planning and grant writing skills. Highly developed organization skills. Strong project management and team-building skills. Ability to grasp medical and health related research information at an elevated level to apply this knowledge to scientific writing. Ability to translate medical and health related research concepts into easily understood grant applications, publications, and letters. Ability to work with aggressive deadlines and tailor deliverables accordingly. Exacting standards of quality. Attention to detail. Self-motivated and flexible. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree or Juris Doctorate and one (1) year of proposal, contract, or research project development administration. Extensive experience in scientific manuscript development.
