The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is responsible for addressing legal issues arising out of the activities of Stanford University, Stanford Health Care and Lucile Salter Packard Childrenâs Hospital at Stanford. The Department of Public Safety (DPS), a division of OGC, exists to provide a safe, secure atmosphere which is conducive to freedom of expression and movement, within the constraints of the Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances.
The OGC and DPS are seeking a Human Resources Director to provide the full range of human resources services to both organizations. Reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel and Managing Attorney with a dotted line to the Director of Public Safety, this position is a strategic HR advisor to the two organizations and is responsible for building and maintaining a high-performing HR program in support of the departmentsâ and universityâs mission. The HRD is also responsible for developing and implementing policies, practices, programs, and services that create and sustain a workplace culture that values providing high-quality customer service, fosters employee development and growth, promotes respect and diversity, and supports integration of the demands of work and life.
The HRD supports approximately 150+ employees across the two organizations with 75% support with DPS and 25% with OGC. Employees working in DPS provide 24/7 services to the Stanford Community including law enforcement, security, emergency, and critical incident response. These expectations create unique issues and challenges from a human resources perspective requiring skilled and knowledgeable solutions and responses including occasions when evening or weekend work is required.
This position is based on Stanfordâs main campus. A hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite) may be considered, subject to operational needs.
