Spire is seeking a highly experienced Scrum Master to work in the St. Louis or Birmingham office. This position will focus on realizing success through high-performing teams, supporting teams and other scrum masters across the Agile Release Train (ART) and responsible for the delivery of sprint goals and objectives through a collaborative partnership with Product Owners.
Supports the Product Owner in managing the team backlog
Coordinates dependencies with other scrum masters/teams
Support the RTE in preparation and participation in ART events and sync’s, gather metrics for reporting, and train execution
Take a leadership role in facilitating ART events to assist RTE such as plan and facilitate I&A event, leading SOS or PO Sync as requested
Lead establishment of Agile initiatives, standards, and practices in the Agile Operations Community of Practice
Facilitate various Communities of Practice as they are formed to drive innovation and relentless improvement
Identify opportunities for the teams to increase their agile or technical skills and work with RTE or managers to execute
Coach other scrum masters to increase their knowledge of agile and agile practices
Understand and help define instances when standardization across teams is needed for cadence and synchronization
Ensure the team follows it’s working agreement, agreed upon processes (Scrum, quality, WIP limits, and process rules), and definition of done
Address and eliminate impediments that are outside the team’s authority
Assist the team in preparation for PI Planning, Demo’s, and Inspect and Adapt
Shield the team from outside distractions
Facilitate the team’s progress toward team goals including coaching in planning, story writing, and pointing work to enable predictability
Challenge the norm to improve performance in quality, predictability, flow, and velocity
Teach problem solving techniques and facilitate troubleshooting issues
Focused on improving team dynamics. Helps the team resolve interpersonal conflicts and challenges, and identifies opportunities for growth
Assist the team in following Spire’s change management process including ensure approval for migration to PROD is documented and complete
Demonstrate servant leader mindset
Ability to coach on Agile values and principles, accountability, and quality practices
Deep understanding of Agile values and principles and the ability to translate that knowledge to practices
Understand and operate within lean budget guardrails
Recognize the need for and drive the team to relentless improvement
Foster psychological safety in the team
Demonstrate Lean-Agile thinking
Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team

Bachelor’s degree in a related field
SAFe Scrum Master experience preferred
SAFe certifications as an RTE, Product Owner, Scrum Master and/or similar required
Minimum 6 years of experience leading a product development team using agile/scrum required
Minimum 8 years of related work experience playing an active role in technology delivery and business analysis
Hybrid Remote/Office environment
Work performed primarily during business hours, with off-hours support required at times
Some Travel may be required as teams are disparate across locations
