The Veterans Upward Bound Program serves military veterans from St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Madison County, St. Clair County, Monroe County and surrounding areas. It is designed to assist qualified veterans in the development of academic and other requisite skills necessary for success in a program of post-secondary education. The program provides assessment, encouragement and skill enhancement through mentoring, instructing and advising.
The TRIO Programs is currently seeking a US Military Veteran to assist the Director of Veterans TRIO and staff with service, retention and record keeping for the Veterans Upward Bound Program.
In this position, the Coordinator will conduct initial assessments with veteran clients and develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP), follow up with veteran client participants, enter services and other data in BLUMEN, and monitor progress toward academic and personal goals and refers veteran clients when appropriate to try to retain participants in the program.
This position also develops and conducts workshops on Financial Aid (3 times a year) and Benefits Services (3 times a year).
Additionally, the Coordinator will visit outside agencies and facilities to recruit and conduct intake and assessments, and participates in weekly staffing and bi-weekly staff meetings.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
United States Military Veteran
Comfortable working with educational software. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
General Knowledge of database and electronic record keeping
Effective Communicator
Experience working with diverse populations. Experience working with veterans is highly desirable.
Skills in exercising appropriate judgement and decision making.
Demonstrated time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
