Job Description

The Engineer In Training (EIT) program is an entry-level program for engineers and technicians to learn core Rockwell Automation product technologies and to develop fundamental engineering skills to support our customers. The program includes a combination of formal classroom training and work assignments to give engineers and technicians hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation’s products and technologies. Training focuses on both technical and leadership competencies. The program will consist of up to 15 weeks of core classroom training in Mayfield Heights, OH before deployment into the technician role onsite at customers in the Ohio area and reporting to the Territory Services Manager.

Your Responsibilities:

• On-Site support and troubleshooting of product-level issues on Rockwell Automation technologies (PLCs, HMI, VFDs & other motor control components)
• Perform preventative maintenance activities on automation assets
• Support customers to maintain control system health (firmware updates, OS patching, program backups, etc.)
• Assess and document customer automation installed base and network infrastructure
• Support customers, contractors, and RA project teams with installation, check-out, testing, and start-up of RA products and systems (I/O terminations and check-out, network cable setup, hardware configuration, etc.)
• Support Engineers with small project execution involving PLC and HMI migrations/conversions
• May serve as a long-term embedded resource at customers requiring on-site support
• Help configure Control Systems (PLC/VFD/Motion/Software) per customer requirements & commissioning customer site.
• Review, redlining & approval of drawings developed in partnership with Global Engineering & Business Services
• Calculate short circuit current rating, three phase and single-phase loads, conductor sizing, derating, and enclosure heat dissipation requirements
• Participate in the preparation for and execution of factory & site acceptance testing and environmental testing

The Essentials – You Will Have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
• The ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• A valid drivers license.

The Preferred – You Might Also Have:

• 1+ years of experience
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience using programmable controllers, numerical controls, computers or motor controls and drives in industrial automation control systems
• Experience in PLC and HMI programming using RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, RSView32 and/or FTView ME/SE, Networking: RIO, DH+, D-Net, and Ethernet Communication. Experienced in AC and DC drives
