Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Analyst – Billing & A/R.
In this role, the successful candidate serves as a member of the Research Finance Support Services Team within Sponsored Research Operations and is responsible for post-award grants management and monitoring for an assigned group of grants and contracts funded by federal government (e.g., NIH), state, domestic and foreign entities. This includes, but is not limited, to sponsored project management, research accounting and sponsor reporting. FA will be responsible for performing individual project reconciliation and analysis prior to the preparation and submission of invoices for all sponsored projects within his/her designated portfolio. FA will also be performing collections of outstanding customer accounts.
Job Responsibilities:
Position Specific:
* Prepare and submit invoices for all sponsored projects according to sponsor’s invoicing deadlines and specifications
* Create and maintain project reconciliation files for all sponsored projects to monitor total invoiced to sponsor, as well as, ensure accuracy of all invoices by analyzing that project costs incurred are allowable and billable, based on the contract and applicable regulations and statutes per sponsor’s policies.
* Coordinates inter-departmentally to obtain and compile back-up information necessary for deliverable invoice submission as required by sponsor’s invoicing guidelines
* Work with sponsors to ensure awards with unique invoicing requirements are adhered to
* Monitor invoice payment status and follow up regularly to ensure payments are received promptly
* Follow up on outstanding receivables and escalate high-risk accounts, as necessary

Effectively and timely resolving customer discrepancies, billing issues, short-payments, unapplied cash reconciliations and disputes
* Perform regular reconciliation of grant accounts for project closeouts.
* Prepare and analyze project queries in support of the post award reporting team.
* Act as liaison between reporting and accounts receivable team for monthly financial and reconciliation activities.
* Performs ad-hoc analysis and other duties as assigned by Finance Manager

Financial Controls and Compliance:
* Perform work within the established goals and objectives for Research Financial Operations
* Research project expenses are managed within budget, per sponsor contracts and in a timely manner
* Monthly billing milestones completed in an accurate and timely manner
* Follow up on outstanding receivables and ensure all contracted grant funds are collected in a timely manner
* All Sponsor’s financial billing contract terms are met

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree and minimum 3 years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination.Superior communication skills, both written and verbalPossess strong customer service and problem solving skill setsKnowledgeable of accrual basis of accounting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business, finance or other appropriate discipline with at least 2 years of relevant financial and grants management experience, or a combination of comparable education and experience.
The Financial Analyst must have a comprehensive understanding of research administration with In-depth knowledge of Uniform Guidance and other research regulatory requirements, specifically the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
Experience with Enterprise Systems. PeopleSoft or Oracle preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 – $65,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
