Navy Federal Credit Union Looking for Certificate IRA Trust Specialist I/II/III at Pensacola, FL  Full Time

Overview

To serve as subject matter expert on day-to-day Cert/IRA processes, procedures, and regulations. To process more complex Cert/IRA request/transactions.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality assurance and resolves issues with Cert/IRA transactions/accounts
• Identifies user or system coding errors and/or misapplication of funds and takes corrective action
• Downloads and works with account data to reconstruct transactions to identify and document errors
• Works closely with Data Control and General Accounting in balancing various general ledgers which interface with the Cert/IRA System
• Works with Branch supervisors to balance automated systems with corresponding general ledgers for IRS reporting
• Rectifies un-posted, out-of-balance, overdrawn, unredeemed, and maintenance-reject accounts
• Prepares reconciliation reports for supervisor
• Adjusts dividends and accruals on Certificates and IRAs
• Work closely with Decedent Accounts in maintaining, processing, and distributing Beneficiary IRA funds
• Serves as subject matter expert on day-to-day Cert/IRA processes, procedures, and regulations
• Responds and resolves escalated member concerns regarding Certificates and IRAs; responds to inquiries from members, branches, and Contact Center staff
• Counsel members and Navy Federal staff regarding eligibility requirements, tax implications, contribution and distribution limitations and penalties (including IRS penalties), regulatory compliance of minimum distributions, and NCUA insurance coverage
• Responds to member complaint letters (e.g., addressed to Supervisory Committee, green ball letters, etc.)
• Calculates and processes IRA required minimum distributions
• Explains and adjusts tax information contained on IRS Forms 1099INT, 1099R, and 5498
• Keeps informed of Federal Regulations, Navy Federal policies, new products, services, and current marketing initiatives
• Provides administrative and operational support to the section.
• Mentors and guides Cert/IRA Specialists
• Assists with testing new applications, products, and services
• Recommends procedural enhancements to Supervisor
• Participates on special projects
• Analyzes member survey results and provides documented findings to Supervisor, Cert/IRA
• Analyzes, audits, and processes daily summary recap reports; informs Supervisor of unusual or repetitive problems with reports
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with and knowledge of principles, practices, and regulations governing IRAs and time deposit instruments
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise good judgment, logic, integrity, and initiative
• Demonstrated ability to understand, apply, and communicate complex regulations, instructions, and procedures
• Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment
• Familiarity with word processing, database, spreadsheet and/or graphics software
• Effective planning, organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to include experience counseling, negotiating, or explaining decisions to members and staff

Desired Qualification(s)

• Demonstrated experience working in a high volume contact center
• Demonstrated ability to guide and control the work of others
• Education above the high school level with course concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM and Saturday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM
