FTE:100% (40 hrs/week) Compensation: $20.32 – $23.37
Job Summary
This position works for the Office of Accessibility Resources and delivers accessibility services, advising, and support to students and
serves as a liaison to faculty, and staff. The Accessibility Specialist is a content-specialist in implementing ADA resourcing, services,
and education at the university. This role is expected to be in the office three days a week and has the option to work two days
remotely.
Student Support and Services (45%) • Provide confidential administrative support for the Office
of Accessibility Resources including answering telephones, managing calendars and correspondence, maintaining electronic/paper
record-keeping systems and materials, tracking data concerning the eligibility of program participants. • Work directly with students
seeking support and accommodations. • Provide academic support strategies and assessment referrals for students seeking assistance with
learning or access obstacles. • Evaluate student needs and prepare and disseminate students’ Notice of Accommodations, which are
subsequently distributed by the Office of ARC to their faculty. • Maintain confidential student records and communications, in
accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). • Evaluates students’ documentation to establish eligibility for
departmental services; meet with active and prospective students to discuss reasonable and effective use of accommodations • Educates
students in self-advocacy to help implement reasonable accommodations; promote awareness of the department’s services; develop/maintain
knowledge of disability law practices and issues related to ADA and Section 504 compliance.
Liaising and Resource Referral
(25%) • Positively represent and promote the services and visibility of OAR amongst staff, faculty, and students. Provide
information to prospective students, outside agencies, schools, and visitors. • Attend a specific number of departmental meetings to
include ADA needs around departmental and program decisions. • Communicate effectively with other university offices (i.e. Human
Resources, Facilities Services, Department Chairs) and outside vendors to assist participants in obtaining appropriate accommodations, i.e.
sign language interpreters, and campus facilities.
Coordinating Technology (15%) • Train students and faculty
on how to use relevant software and equipment specific to accessibility needs • Research and purchase assistive technology in
coordination with the Accessibility Resources Coordinator. • Compile and analyze data, prepare standard and requested reports, generate
correspondence, presentation materials, spreadsheets, graphics, meeting materials, and other similar items using various computer software.
This includes database maintenance and reports generation of a system for assessment and self-study purposes. • Stay up to date and
knowledgeable of mobile and desktop applications that provide accessibility to students.
Training (10%) •
Provide ADA training at least 2 times per semester (both online and in person) as well as ongoing for faculty, staff, and students.
Other (5%) • Collect, analyze and report statistical and satisfaction data of students with disabilities to assess and
evaluate the effectiveness of current services and programs. • Maintain and analyze a set of complex budgetary records (Colleague) by
performing bookkeeping related to the status of accounts and making recommendations for projected budgets. • Coordinate
calendar/schedule/meetings. • Assist ARC in advising constituents with administrative problems or concerns. • Supervise/train
student employees (1 to 3 students).
What Naropa Requires… •Bachelor’s degree in Special
Education, Education, Human Services, Vocational Rehabilitation or related field. •Experience working with persons with disabilities in
higher education, education, counseling, teaching, case management or business. •Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and
experience processing ADA requests. •Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.•Commitment to confidentiality.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills. •Excellent attention to detail. •Ability to manage multiple projects at the

Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in

Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and
personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service. The University recognizes the
