Job Summary:
Assistant Professor (tenure track) to teach graduate and undergraduate social work and/or family science courses; advise students; develop a research and publication agenda; seek external grant funding; and be engaged in service at the departmental, college, University, and professional discipline levels. Appointment will begin in August 2024.
College of Education, Health and Society (EHS): Founded in 1902, the College of Education, Health, and Society was Miami University’s first professional school and home to Miami’s first graduate of color. CEHS continues to lead the way with the highest percentage of diverse students and faculty across the university. The College embraces the rich opportunities available for cross-disciplinary collaboration across its six departments (Educational Leadership; Educational Psychology; Family Science and Social Work; Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health; Sport Leadership and Management; and Teacher Education).
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in social work, and a DSW or Ph.D. in social work or a closely related field by date of appointment.
Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice for populations experiencing oppression and marginalization. We also value demonstrated awareness of intersectionality, positionality, and critical reflexivity. Two or more years of full-time post-MSW social work practice experience is preferred. A prior history of teaching and research is preferred. An ideal candidate would be able to contribute to the current research/practice expertise of the faculty and/or bring innovation. All areas of research/practice focus are welcomed.
