The Role
The VP Strategic Operations carries full P&L, capital, and operational responsibility for the Strategic Operations for McKesson Pharmaceutical. This leader will provide leadership to multiple distribution centers across the United States that primarily service McKesson’s internal distribution network.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Management
Drive successful financial, operational, compliance and customer results to achieve defined scorecard goals in each area.
Lead a culture of employee safety and engagement as measured by the safety performance index and employee engagement scores through employee surveys.
Develop supply chain solutions that maximize inventory investment and increase distribution efficiency through collaboration with key functions.
Provide strategic direction for capital investment or operational initiatives based on changing industry or market trends.
Manage complex matrix relationships with functional leaders that are impacted by the McKesson strategic operations.
Leverage relationship with business process leaders to develop supply chain and operational solutions.
Lead a team of 5-10 Sr. Leaders responsible for inventory, transportation, operational planning, operational execution, facilities maintenance and compliance that have overall responsibility for up to 500 exempt and non-exempt employees.
Other assignments including, but not limited to, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, public policy, community relations and special projects as identifies.
Revenue Growth, Expense Management and Customer Satisfaction
Ensure customer/vendor growth by providing creative distribution solutions through collaboration with vendor relations team, sales team and finance team.
Engage and establish relationships with key customers/vendors and lead initiatives to deliver mutual benefit through use of McKesson’s strategic operations.
Partner with the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) team to develop budgets, price business and manage revenue and expense plans.
Participate in customer/vendor interactions that lead to customer retention, new business and additional business opportunities.
Employee Engagement
Assemble and foster a strong team of leaders by providing coaching and development opportunities for direct reports.
Ensure high quality employee attraction, engagement, recognition and development at all levels.
Develop the McKesson culture by modeling the ICARE and ILEAD values.
Collaborate with functional areas to execute structured talent reviews and feedback sessions to develop a bench of talent.
Effectively manage all people issues including, but not limited to, labor, turnover, diversity.
Participate in McKesson events that engage employees and their families.
Operational Excellence
Drive achievement of operational metrics that measure quality, efficiency, cost, inventory and customer satisfaction.
Foster a culture of innovation to develop creative ways to achieve and exceed operational metrics.
Ensure compliance with McKesson process and procedures and all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to, OSHA, FDA, DOT and DEA.
Facilitate open communication among the leaders of each building / function by holding appropriate staff and strategy meetings.
Supply Chain Value
Develop supply chain solutions that drive financial value to McKesson by partnering with functional leaders across the business.
Appropriately lead the strategic operations to leverage the operational strengths of each location.
Leverage provider relationships to maximize service levels while minimizing expense.
Ensure appropriate automation and technology are being deployed within the operations to sustain expected growth and compliance.
Develop creative solutions to provide improved service to vendors and customers.
Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, projects and initiatives related to Regulatory Affairs, Pricing, Mergers and Acquisitions, Community Relations, Public Policy, etc.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of progressive Distribution/Supply Chain leadership experience
Critical Skills
Organizational leadership in logistics or in a distribution environment
Effective communicator at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work cross functionally and collaborate in a highly matrixed environment
Experience with financials and analytics
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics or related discipline required

Must have the ability to travel up to 25% of the time

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
Our Base Pay Range for this position
$156,200 – $260,400
