Duties and Responsibilities:
A 12-month grant-funded Research Associate position is available in Professor Reuben Keller’s lab in the School of Environmental Sustainability at Loyola University Chicago. The project work will include developing risk assessment tools for aquatic invasive species in Illinois, estimating the benefits of interventions to prevent the spread of invasive species by boaters, and field and lab projects investigating the impact and control of aquatic invasive species. Exact projects will be determined based on the qualifications of the successful applicant. Work will be based at Loyola’s Lakeshore campus and will include field sampling across northeastern Illinois, lab work to prepare samples, data analysis, and writing/presenting results.

Applicants should have a masters or PhD in a relevant discipline. Experience collecting aquatic species in the Chicago region is desirable, particularly experience working with invertebrates and fishes. Strong quantitative and statistical skills are required. Knowledge of methods for risk assessment of aquatic invasive species is desired. The position may require occasional overnight trips for fieldwork and/or to present results at meetings.
