About This Role: | Kansas State University Olathe invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Faculty, Research, and Administration. Reporting to the Dean and CEO of the Olathe Campus, the Associate Dean is a critical member of the K-State Olathe leadership team which is dedicated to building new paradigms of interdisciplinary and integrated research and education, leading new program development on the undergraduate and graduate levels, and facilitating research and engagement through academic, industry, government, and community partnerships. The campus has a mandate in applied research and education and currently offers a variety of programs on the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels in Animal Health, Food Safety and Security, Horticulture, Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Advanced Manufacturing, Hospitality, and Personal Financial Planning. Educational offerings at the campus will continue to evolve and grow to meet the needs of the workforce, industry, and students through a variety of credit and non-credit programs that address technical and transferable skills. Faculty and instructors at K-State Olathe represent a combination of resident and non-resident, full-time and part-time experts from industry, education, and government sectors. Ten research laboratories on the campus support academic, research, and industry activities. The position responsibilities of the Associate Dean for Faculty, Research, and Administration are as follows: Administrative Activities (30%)

Faculty Appointment (20%)
The successful candidate must possess an earned PhD. or appropriate terminal degree in an academic discipline along with substantial experience working in higher education or an equivalent academic setting with demonstrated increasing supervisory and leadership roles. They will demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team to manage change and growth on the campus. They should possess proven relationship building skills, commitment to shared governance, knowledge of, and experience with, faculty promotion and tenure processes, and the ability to work with diverse constituencies within the University, and with corporate, government, and community sectors. They should also demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. Travel between Olathe and other K-State Campuses in Manhattan and Salina as well as within the Greater Kansas City Metro area is expected as well. The position is a 12-month appointment structured as 80% administrative and 20% faculty appointment (either tenured or non-tenured depending on candidate experience and existing faculty rank). |
