The Benefit Analyst provides associates with appropriate benefit information, ensuring that all eligible associates are aware of their benefit options. Many audits are completed between the Benefits Administrator and MedStar Health, especially around annual enrollment and payroll processing. Dataintegrity is the primary responsibility of the Benefits Analyst.
Primary Duties
Actively participates with projects to include testing, data clean up, budget data collection and any other projects that arise on a regular basis.
Assists in the administration of the Pension, 403(b), and 401(k) plans. Researches pension participant data hours and earnings history for benefit determination for terminated vested associate and retiring associates.
Assists in the preparation of annual benefit statements, IRS, and other reports for associates, administrative, and regulatory requirements.
Consults with associates, and assists associates with benefit enrollments and claims issues. Coordinates with outside consultants, administrators, and legal to validate or contest claims.
Explains benefit plans, costs, and procedures to associates individually and in larger group discussions. Advises associates of benefit options. Interprets contents of group insurance plans and refers questionable cases to manager or to appropriate insurance company representative.
Oversee the administration of the Flexible Spending Accounts and COBRA processes.
Prepares for and participates in monthly associate orientation, annual house staff orientation and annual open enrollment process.
Processes associate leaves of absence and coordinates with disability payments where applicable. Computes leave time, controls leave renewals and limitations, and makes associated personnel and payroll changes.
Processes associate requests for reimbursement for Tuition Assistance. Validates and documents the request and submits it to the Accounts Payable department in a timely manner.
Review and correct payroll and vendor error report on a daily or weekly basis depending on when the report is received by the analyst.
Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience Required
1-2 years Related benefits experience Required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
