Job Summary
The Graduate Academic Advisor works with the School of Information Technology’s Graduate Coordinator in assisting the School’s graduate students and managing the admission process for the graduate program. Specifically, this position includes student recruitment and retention, academic advisement, processing of tuition waivers, support hiring and supervision of Graduate Assistants and providing administrative support for thesis or project completion. This position also provides undergraduate advising to the information systems and computer networking degrees as well as half the cybersecurity majors. Advises on course scheduling at both undergraduate and graduate level.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$3,172 – $4,121/month
Required Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree
2. At least two (2) years full time (or part-time equivalent) of professional level work experience in a job that utilized skills related to Information Technology
3. Demonstrated experience in an area of Information Technology
4. Demonstrated experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office
5. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication skills
6. Ability to work independently
7. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
1. Degree in an information technology field
2. Experience working with diverse populations
3. Strong organizational skills
4. Strong people skills
Work Hours
Core work hours are Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., some evenings and weekends
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
