The School of Medicine on the Savannah, Georgia campus is searching for a full-time or part-time Clinical
Sciences Education Faculty.
Responsibilities:
Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking highly qualified
educators with broad training and demonstrated experience or enthusiasm for teaching in an integrated pre-clerkship medical school
curriculum. This position is a non-tenure track, 12-month appointment. This position could be full-time or part-time depending on the
availability of the selected candidate. Rank will be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate.Additional duties will be
required/assigned during the summer.
Teaching faculty will play a key role in the continued development and implementation of an
integrated, cross-disciplinary curriculum that includes small and large group case-based and team-based learning, and other active
teaching-learning methods.
Duties:
* Teaching: 80% of time
Participation in tutorial program for
medical students
Mentor and advise students
Assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of
evidence-based simulation learning experiences that promote the development of clinical reasoning and decision making.
Work
with clinical, educational, and research faculty to design, implement, and evaluate educational curriculum in all aspects of undergraduate
education
* Research/Scholarship: 10%
* Service Activities: 10%
Qualifications:
MD
Board certified/board eligible in Medicine, Surgery, or Internal Medicine
Georgia medical
license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Georgia
Demonstrated experience in Standardized Patient Program and
academic activities that facilitate the success of all students in simulated clinical experiences
Preference will be given to
individuals with prior teaching experience, and a background in case-based and active learning methods in small and large group settings.
Selection of the final candidate is contingent on successful background check.
