The Department of Mechanical Engineering is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Program Manager vacancy.
Responsibilities
This position will serve as the Program Manager for the Department of Mechanical Engineering and report to the Chair and will be a member of the department’s senior management team and responsible for the overall directions, management, and operation of academic & administrative services and will work closely with the chair on strategic planning.
Provide oversight for the fiscal, academic, and HR operations in the department of Mechanical Engineering and recommendation to the Chair for short- and long-range planning. Manages academic advising functions, ensures that outlined program designs and program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures as outlined by the Chair are met including administering, reviewing, and evaluating all activities related to an administrative program providing service and opportunities or facilitating projects for the department/university. Utilizes considerable discretion and judgment to counsel departmental staff and faculty on administrative matters and appropriate courses of action. Provides high level expertise & serves as the subject matter expert to the Chair and Dean on all matter pertaining to departmental administration & finances. Responsible for budgetary functions to include compiling and reviewing financial data, forecasting and advising chair on operational goals pertaining to budget and provides reports as requested. Serves as department budget manager and monitors E&G, C&G and Foundation accounts at both universities and ensures that accounts are reconciled monthly. Serves as a p-card proxy for the department and approves purchasing and travel.
Make recommendations to department chair and the College’s leadership team regarding internal policies and procedures that can improve processes. Will serve as Departmental HR Manager. Approves appointments and personnel actions for faculty, staff and graduate students for both FAMU and FSU done by the Central HR staff. Including, in conjunction with the College’s HR team, faculty and staff recruitment; faculty P&T, labor relations, record keeping & retention, FACET effort reporting, visa compliance, performance reviews for staff and faculty, AOR’s, financial oversight of E&G, C&G, and Foundation budgets. Coordinates with faculty, accountant, and the College’s central HR staff to assure all graduate assistant (GA) appointments at both FAMU and FSU are processed. Verifies proper credentialing for all TA’s and adjuncts is completed. Assures that data requirements are met for institutional reporting. Responsible for the timely completion of extensive reporting requirements to include accrediting agencies; FL BOG as needed. Manages departmental space, including offices, labs, classrooms, and study rooms. Manages property inventory for the department. Back up for all administrative & programmatic transactions in the Department.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years’ experience related to administrative services or a high school diploma and eight years of experience (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
