Your Job
As a SIS Engineer you will be responsible for SIS Program tactical support, support of the refinery control system hardware and networking. The group’s vision is to maximize the availability of control system hardware and software through equipment lifecycle planning, reliability strategies and effective procedural repairs. You will be involved with prioritizing daily Digital group work priorities, ensuring the successful execution of related procedures and play a key role in the control system hardware maintenance. As a member of the Digital Maintenance Team, you will also be required to participate as a member of the Digital On-Call rotation schedule to cover after-hour troubleshooting/repair activities.

Our Team
You will work with the process control capability, process engineers, technicians, operators, and other personnel to help the refinery safely operate its processes through maintenance, engineering, and support of its safety-instrumented system PLCs.
What You Will Do
- SIS Program Tactical Support: Project Support, Day to Day Requests/Troubleshooting, Metrics and Reports, SIS Program Tasks, Testing procedure reviews, Testing QA and Support, Automated testing programs (creation and maintenance), Project FATs, Project LATs, General oversight, SIL Verification/TA Deferrals (Kenexis reviews), Redbook Testing closeout, Daily activation metrics, Program data maintenance, Cybersecurity assessments
- Training Operations, INST, IRTG, Maintenance, and Engineering staff on the functionality of PLC code
- Control System Maintenance: The trouble shooting and repair of PLC/DCS equipment in the refinery – Replacing faulty cards, CPUs, power supplies etc – Troubleshooting, diagnosing and correcting PLC/DCS communication problems – Minor PLC logic or HMI (human machine interface) graphics programming for modifications to existing software
- Support the DCS and PLC hardware and Upgrade Projects
- Support networking of devices
- Leading and promoting Root Cause Failure Analysis
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- BS in Engineering or related field
- Experience with DCS or PLC maintenance and/or configuration experience in a chemical plant or petroleum refinery or similar
- Experience using industrial plant automation/control systems hardware and software in automation and process control applications
- Experience with networking protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and HART in industrial control system applications
- Experience with programming documentation processes and procedures
- Experience with engineering documents associated with PLC/DCS and digital equipment such as electrical drawings, logic drawings, P&IDs, Cause and Effect tables
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with SIS Safety Instrument Systems
- Knowledge and understanding of safety instrumented system standard IEC 61511
- Experience in application engineering of instrumentation assets (i.e. pressure transmitters, control valves, automated isolation valves, flow transmitters, temperature transmitters, etc.)
- Experience with the Allen-Bradley family of PLCs, Triconex systems, GE, Wonderware HMI software, ProLytX and Emerson DeltaV
