The Housing and Residential Education (HRE) Summer Assistant is a temporary position providing community support to students residing in summer housing as well as administrative support to the HRE and Campus Life office in various projects over the summer. The Summer Assistant report directly to a full-time professional staff member commonly known as a Residence Director and will collaborate with a team of SHAs to work collaboratively in order to build, develop, and maintain a safe and thriving community.
The primary responsibilities of the Summer Assistant position include: developing and carrying out projects, supporting the Campus Life office, providing safety and security measures for summer residents. Strategies for success include maintaining individual and group contact, a thorough knowledge of campus resources, and strong administrative skills.
Support Residential Education team ensuring proper standards.
Be available to assist with all hall opening and hall closing procedures. When appropriate, complete all room inventory forms and complete all necessary responsibilities pertaining to health and safety inspections. (Includes check-ins/outs during summer sessions, as well as early arrival and temporary housing)
● Assist in preparing for early arrival students — prepare keys, perform check-ins, hand-out IDs, deliver meals, etc.
● Assist Residence Director(s) with management of inventories, keys, and contracts
● Provide support in regular office activities and other duties as assigned
● Provide in-person support to summer student population as needed
● Uphold, enforce, and abide by all residence hall policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook, the Housing Contract, RA Expectations, RA Competencies, COVID-19 Related Policies and Guidelines or through other campus publications or postings

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20.00
