Job Summary:
The Human Resource/Payroll Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Human Resource and Payroll departments.
Payroll Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assist with processing of paper checks for distribution.
· Assist with addressing inquiries about payroll related issues
· Assist with maintaining payroll information by collection, calculating and entering data.
· Assist with updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and deductions.
· Assist with resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries
· Assist with maintaining all payroll operations according to company
· Assist with reporting from payroll in line with HR and business requirements.
· Assist with ensuring compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices
· Assist with entering data into databases and spreadsheets.
Human Resource Duties/Responsibilities:
· Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
· Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate. Senior-level HR staff or management.
· Assists with unemployment filings and monitoring of unemployment accounts
· Assists with periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
· Assists with New Hire orientation as needed
· Maintaining I-9 files
· Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
· Provides clerical support to the HR department.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn computer applications.
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s degree in related field preferred
· 1+ year payroll experience preferred
· HR experience preferred
· Prior related office experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
