Under the general direction of the Facility Captain the Office Technician (OT) performs a variety of general office work for the Facility Program Office, serving as clerical support for the Captain, Program Lieutenants, Program Sergeants, and Correctional Counselors. Duties include: computer data entry, miscellaneous typing, document preparation and review, oral communications, ordering and maintain supplies and equipment, and record keeping. Prepares memorandums, letters, confidential reports, CDCR 128-B informative and confidential chronos, and monthly statistical reports. Reviews Appeal responses, correspondences and miscellaneous documents for appropriate format and content. Tracks and reviews assignments assigned to respective areas. Prepares and maintains files and/or logs specific to areas of responsibility, prepares and distributes mail, answers telephones and directs call or takes messages, may provide information to the Public Information Officer related to assigned areas. Supports the Facility Captains (FC), Program Lieutenants, Program Sergeants, Correctional Counselor II’s (CCII) and Correctional Counselor I’s (CC I), for the purpose of analyzing, editing, editing, resolving problems, and receiving miscellaneous instructions. Reviews area for document retention requirements. Performs clerical duties specific to work location. Has regular, direct responsibility for work supervision, on the-job-training, and work performance evaluation of at least two inmates who substantially replace civil service employees for a total of at least 120 hours per pay period. This includes regular monitoring of inmate computer usage in accordance with institutional policy. Utilizes the Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS) for inmate timekeeping and inmate payroll. Other duties as assigned.

CMC has two physically separated housing complexes, commonly referred to as “East” and “West”. An emphasis is placed on providing all inmates with programs for self-improvement. These programs include academic and vocational education, work skills in prison industries and inmate self-help groups.
The Level III housing complex (East), which houses medium security general population inmates, is divided into four facilities. Each facility has its own dining room, classrooms, athletic fields, and two three-story housing units. The East housing complex has a fully licensed Correctional Treatment Center as well as a fully licensed 50 bed Mental Health Crisis Unit.
The Level I and II housing complex (West) houses minimum security general population inmates in dormitory settings within three separate facilities. In addition, the West housing complex contains a Level I camp program for fire suppression, conservation and other community service work.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
