Position Summary

Working with the Director of HR, the Sr. HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties in supporting our multi-location organization. We are looking for someone to hit the ground running to carry out responsibilities in the areas of benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, health & safety, and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities

• Administers various human resource plans, programs, and procedures for all personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures
• Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefits information to employees
• Supports employees with all payroll and benefit-related inquires
• Manages the on boarding and off boarding process
• Coach and guide managers through employee relations matters
• Maintains human resource information system records in UKG and compiles reports from the database
• Developing and maintaining the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety programs in accordance with Corporate Policies, Directives and/or applicable regulatory requirements
• Ensure legal compliance by monitoring, maintaining, and implementing applicable HR federal and provincial requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining OSHA, local, and federal records
• Work with the broader HR Team to define and coordinate HR metrics, data analysis and reporting to determine the organization’s most critical areas for operational development and improvement
• Proactively perform risk assessments for new positions/changes in workflow to ensure hazards can be eliminated/reduced to ensure Occupational Health and Safety compliance measures are in place
• Find opportunities to make it a “safety first” environment. Look for trainings, team meetings, or awareness tools to implement to further enhance the safety program
• Manage occupational injury/illness claims and administer Workers’ Compensation matters
• Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counselling employees and supervisors
• Provide backup and support to the national HR team
• Audit payroll and provide backup and support to the Sr. Payroll Specialist

Education & Skill Requirements

• A post-secondary degree from the HR field or similar
• 4+ years of HR experience
• Deep understanding of Labor Law, OSHA and other Federal, State, and Local regulations
• Experience supporting a multi-location setting
• Experience with HRIS, UKG (UltiPro) is a strong asset
• Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
• Demonstrated knowledge of HR functions and best practices
• Ability to support, coach and guide managers and calm escalated situations
• This is a hybrid role
