Current Work of the Department
The Art Department provides quality art education for students pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in Studio Art or Art History. Students prepare for academic transfer or train for entry-level positions in the visual arts. Located at Highland Campus in Central Austin, the Art program provides students with significant opportunities for creative and professional development. Students work in well-equipped, state-of-the-art studios with highly credentialed faculty with active exhibition records. As part of the Arts and Digital Media Division, the Art Department oversees exhibition programming for three on-campus art galleries. Students have opportunities to exhibit their own work and gain professional and technical training in exhibition practices. The Art Department offers off-campus learning opportunities including an Academic Cooperative capstone class where students gain hands-on work experience in professional internships. The ACC Art Department plays a vital role in the Central Texas Arts Community.
Location
The Round Rock Campus (RRC) is the primary teaching location, although other campuses may be assigned based on student and college needs.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and teach courses in the field of Art Appreciation and Art History to a diverse and multicultural student population based on the department’s approved course learning outcomes, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students and the standards of the discipline.
Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level, and other departmental activities.
Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
Serve as a mentor to students in the Art History and Art Studio programs.
Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.
Support division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning.
Serve on college-wide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice president, vice president, or executive vice president.
Additional Duties
Work with Early College High School and Dual Credit students at the high school level
Serve as a liaison to and provide oversight of the department’s Early College High School sections.
Develop and lead art appreciation assessment processes as well as design and update Art Appreciation curricula.
Technology
Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom. Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.).

Required Education
In accordance with Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements:
MA in Art History; OR an MFA or MA in Studio Art
Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Art History
