Director of Early College Programs

The position of Director of Early College Programs shall serve as a liaison to area schools for the purpose of recruitment for concurrent and dual enrollment and shall report directly to the Dean for Academic Success.The position shall work closely with area counselors, faculty, and secondary students for a seamless transition to college course credit.Additional duties shall include providing oversight and strategic planning for the overall concurrent and dual credit programs while aligning objectives with the college’s overall strategic plan’s goals and objectives. The position ensures that the Early College Programs are administered in accord with guidelines established by the College, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, the Higher Learning Commission, and National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
§Will be required to travel to area high schools, participate in meetings, conferences, and other activities related to the operations of the Early College programs and the College.
§Conduct college business in a professional and ethical manner that includes the College’s core values of belonging, compassion, diversity, innovation and integrity.
§Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty and the general public.
§Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
§Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, and standards in a safe and efficient manner and with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters Preferred. Three years minimum experience at the K12 and/or college level in a field related to the job
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT
Shares responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of assigned facilities and monitoring of equipment.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey ideas, facts, and information effectively and accurately to students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under general direction of the Dean for Academic Success, working from policies and general directives. Rarely refers specific cases to supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of the organization’s policy is required.
PLANNING
Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees. Attention to deadlines is required.
DECISION MAKING
Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of small organizational component and the organization’s customers.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING
Moderately structured. Fairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided supervision. Interpolation of learned things in somewhat varied situations.
USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Regular use office equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software).
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
Regular contacts with patrons where the contacts are initiated by the employee. Involves both furnishing and obtaining information and, also, attempting to influence the decisions of those persons contacted. Contacts of considerable importance and of such nature, that failure to exercise proper judgment may result in important tangible or intangible losses to the organization.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Intermediate: Word Processing/Typing
Basic: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet
TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY
Microsoft Office, Outlook, Banner, Canvas, etc; office machines such as telephones, scanners and copiers.

There are no harmful environmental conditions that are present for this position. Some equipment may be hazardous.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
