SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the overall compensation function, including administration of employee pay practices, development/maintenance of employee retention and advancement initiatives, market pricing determination and job description administration.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Performs standard supervisory functions, including, recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching, mentoring, task assignment, performance evaluation, progressive discipline, conflict resolution and allocating staff resources.
2. Develops and maintains pay practices and policies based on organizational compensation philosophy and best practices.
3. Acts as an internal consultant to leadership; provides guidance in compensation-related issues, including developing recruitment, promotional and retention strategies.
4. Partners with internal associates (Business Partners, Labor Relations, Recruiting, etc.) to identify opportunities and challenges affecting Compensation issues.
5. Assists in budget preparations/analysis for both regular annual cycles and specific projects (cost of living /individual equity increases, incentive payouts, etc.
6. Negotiates contracts with outside vendors, including market pricing organizations (for both day-to-day processing and special projects).
7. Performs life cycle of new and revised positions, including counseling/guidance to management of job description formation and pricing analysis to determine appropriate pay range.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Required Experience: Five years’ experience within a compensation environment.
Preferred Experience: Experience within a union-represented healthcare environment; supervisory experience.
Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Certification as a Compensation Professional (CCP); Certification as Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
