Job Description
Role:
Responds to requests from various departments within the Credit Union to help design software and provide solutions. Meets said requests by developing scopes, managing systems, and developing new solutions by utilizing the platforms used by the Credit Union.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Aids with projects that further the long-term goals of the Credit Union.
Develops and maintains software for the Credit Union’s core application and ancillary systems.
Maintains specific programs, functions or areas within the department.
Performs user administration for new, existing, and terminated employees.
Maintains databases, core system, and core related applications.
Documents system processes and programs developed in projects and work orders.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1. Assists in resolving and offering solutions to complex production problems on any in-house or purchased software applications, across multiple hardware platforms and programming languages.
2. Ensures core system resources/technology are being used in an effective and secure manner. This includes upgrades as well as maintenance to ensure core technology remains up to date.
3. Assists with analyzing/reviewing the overall efficiency of the Credit Union’s core system computer operations; matches user needs and desires to system capabilities and limitations.
4. Communicates effectively with users at all levels to understand their job functions, business needs and strategic direction. Is able to translate complex ideas into simple language for non-technicians. Assists with creating testing requirements that are easy for users to understand.
5. Implements computer system requirements by defining and analyzing system problems, designing, implementing, and testing standards and solutions.
6. Continuously expands skill set by researching new products, techniques, upgrades, and software. Shares knowledge and experience with other members of the Enterprise Applications team.
7. Balances multiple jobs, priorities, and deadlines.
8. Provides system support services on-site and via telephone during working hours and on occasion after normal working hours for core application and ancillary systems.
9. Assists with detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions for business units.
10. Improves systems by studying current practices and designing modifications.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: One to three years experience of similar or related experience preferred. Five to eight years of financial institution experience in place of direct experience in an IT capacity.
Education: (1) A bachelor’s degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree). Extensive experience with financial institution software and in financial industry could be considered in lieu of degree or certification.
Interpersonal Skills: Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
Other Skills: Demonstrates application support and scoping abilities. Symitar core banking knowledge is strongly preferred. Knowledge of PowerOn programming language is preferred. Strong troubleshooting, logic, and attention to detail. Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation software. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English clearly. Normally expected to work between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. but may be required to work nights and/or weekends. Must adhere to safety rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements: This requires sitting at a computer for most of the day. This would also require the ability to file files, opening filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function.
Work Environment: This job operates in a clerical office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
