The University of Tennessee, departments of Conferences & Event Services and Center for Professional Education & Lifelong Learning is accepting applications for an IT Administrator/Analyst 1. The position will work as a team of 2 IT positions, to support, maintain, and coordinate technology and information services needs of UT Conferences and Non-Credit Programs. The team will develop, implement, and support resources and equipment that impact all areas of the department that rely on technology; to develop, implement, and support solutions for a variety of technology needs for all users that rely on our department’s services. Provide Audio and Video support for Conferences and Non- Credit Programs, supporting the lab computer needs and client request. Maintain all software compliance requirements of the unit for the university, following all policy and procedures. The position will support the other IT Administrator responsibilities in their absences or with daily task when needed.
Job Duties:
· Maintain, test, repair, and otherwise support in-place infrastructure technology to ensure high availability access to those resources.
· Maintain resources, licenses, credentials, and similar information as necessary to ensure compliance with licensing and contracts.
· Interact with vendors as necessary for resolve technical problems, perform upgrades, and discuss new solutions as options become available.
· To have as broad and comprehensive an understanding as possible of various software, including server, database, registration, and daily use software to provide timely assistance when users from any part of the department encounters situations related to technology with which they require assistance.
· Work with the University’s department of OIT to provide required software back-up and processes of backing up daily files for the unit.
· Provide technical, AV, and other as-needed support for users, faculty, students, and clients, including novel requests and resolving any ad-hoc difficulties or problems on-site.
· Secure computer systems according to UT policy, departmental requirements, and industry best practices. Perform preventative maintenance and testing of systems and to manage and provide information on technologies and their behavior to ensure compliance with relevant departmental and University policies.
· Manage the access, availability and setup of laptops and various equipment needs of departmental classes and clients
· Maintain backup system, software & hardware, of all departmental servers and data
· Manage as owner, all departmental NetIDs for departmental email accounts
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
· Knowledge of and skill using computer workstation and server operating systems including Windows Server (all supported versions), Windows Client (all supported version), Windows Hyper-V virtualization, Mac OS, and other OSes as required.
· Ability to understand and use network infrastructure for connectivity in both stable and ad-hoc environments.
· Skill and ability to use Active Directory for server management, as well as DNS, WINS, wireless networking, server and workstation hardware configurations.
· Ability to configure resources for users to access to fulfill job responsibilities.
· Ability to understand, use, and configure multiple software packages used by the department and the university.
· Ability to communicate technical concepts, problems, options, and solutions in a way that is accessible to both technical and non-technical
Preferred requirements:
· Independently develop and maintain databases using Microsoft SQL Server, mySQL, and other products
· Perform advanced database administration for existing enterprise-level database products
· Assess product cybersecurity needs and protect data integrity, privacy, and security
· Create database design, stored procedures, diagrams, and scripts
· Work with system administration to provide and protect database environments
· Create reports, data extracts, and dashboard-style data presentations
· Document database products and create data dictionaries
Education and Experience requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
