Job Description
Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Advanced Analytics, this position
will assist in the production and delivery of decision support tools to assist university strategic planning and decision making. This
position will perform statistical and econometric modeling and research and support the development of data systems and infrastructure
required to efficiently operationalize this effort. Through the development of inferential modelling and machine learning tools this
position will provide the necessary context and information for decision makers at the university to make data-informed strategic
decisions.
1. Supports university decision making through the development of prescriptive inferential models and predictive machine
learning models on various topics including: student success, program efficiency, economic climate, and other topics relevant to the
performance of the institution’s academic mission. Development of such analyses will require continued growth in knowledge of R, SAS, Python, and/ or other modeling and data management programs. Assists with the development of data models to collect
and store relevant internal and external data to support the continuous improvement and operation of these models. Data storage tasks will
require continued growth in knowledge of SQL and relational database systems including Oracle and Redshift.

Supports the development of dashboards and reports to visualize and contextualize the results of quantitative analysis and research. With
guidance from the Associate Director, supports the operationalization and storage of statistical models and/or their results for display in
analytical platforms. This will require the development of extensive proficiency in Tableau tools as well as occasional use of Microsoft or
R solutions. Develop stakeholder training and educational documentation around these dashboards and research. Participate in the systematic
review of published dashboards to ensure they are relevant and accurate.
3. Coordinates with IEA staff and
colleagues across campus to learn and maintain knowledge of current business processes, practices, and regulations that affect or influence
the research this position conducts. Collaborates and shares knowledge through intentional cross-training. Maintains knowledge of data
security requirements including securing hardware, following data storage practices, and knowledge of FERPA and
other regulations.
4. Participates in professional development activities including presenting at conferences, attending training,
self-training and exploration of new techniques and technologies, and sharing information with colleagues.
5. Works diligently toward
documentation of tools and processes in the institution’s maintained instance of Github. Works to automate processes to their fullest extent
through the use of task scheduler. Bat files and other tools as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in research-based
social science, computer science, statistics, finance and administration, or analytics and information systems. Others that demonstrate
relevance to statistics, computer science, or analytic systems.
Experience or aptitude for managing data in terms of familiarity with
advanced analytic tools such as statistical modeling, data analysis and publishing tools including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SAS, SPSS, R, Tableau, Power BI, or others is desired. Analytical skills in understanding
quantitative data and working with large datasets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including methods of presenting data to
stakeholders. Experience with infographic design and creation is desired. Ability to work collaboratively with individuals with diverse
backgrounds and skill levels.
