Position Summary
The NOC Engineer will serve as a technical and subject matter expert for the Wintrust Network Operations Center (NOC) which provides 24x7x365 support for the data network and applications, including implementation of documented NOC policies and procedures that support core organizational functions. The NOC Engineer will follow basic triage steps, monitor production systems and assure their high availability. The NOC Engineer will be required to react to a myriad of alarms and notifications, take specific actions based on priority, and understand the business purpose of organizations and departments throughout the infrastructure. The successful candidate will proactively look for ways to improve processes, look for inefficiencies, and document new processes as they evolve.
What You’ll Do
Administration of SolarWinds and associated modules
Monitor all NOC system alerts and assist to resolve complex issues in network and applications
Adherence to Wintrust Policies and Standards
Maintain metrics necessary to support KPI and KRI reporting related to area of responsibility
Review alarm logs daily to ensure alarms are being properly addressed
Respond to NOC alerts in a timely manner and initiate policies & procedures to restore service
Identify, isolate and help resolve network, power and environmental and customer impacting issues in a 24x7x365 environment
Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems affecting network performance and escalate to higher tier support using time based and severity criteria
Building relationships with other teams at Wintrust
Work with the Network/Systems/Applications teams and SolarWinds Support to troubleshoot and understand system faults and application performance issues
Support and manage complex alerts, reports, and views
Qualifications
0-3 years of related experience
Help desk or other support experience
Basic understanding of network OSI layers
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong attention to detail
Excellent customer satisfaction acumen
Preferred certifications: Network +, CCNA
