Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, the Development Officer creates and implements strategies and plans to secure philanthropic support for university initiatives and priorities from donors who have the ability to make a gift or pledge of $25,000 or more.
Job Summary:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in fundraising or related non-profit organizational work, alumni relations, sales or closely related field. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree and demonstrated success in building donor/client relationships.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary:
Working knowledge of or ability to learn Raiser’s Edge software. Demonstrated interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated success with cold-calling techniques and ability to forge strong interpersonal relationships with alumni and prospective donors. Demonstrated self-initiative, research and analytical skills, and creative problem-solving abilities. Ability to successfully manage time, personal calendar, travel arrangements and competing priorities; work in a diverse, fast-paced community; exercise discretion and sound judgment in managing prospect and donor relationships; and develop and execute annual and long-term work plans. High level of comfort and competency with common MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
