POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Operations Manager (ITOM) is responsible and accountable for the overall leadership, direction and coordination of daily IT operations and IT support services at Winter Park Resort.
This position has a strategic planning role within the organization with respect to data systems, network systems and infrastructure, and voice communications systems design and implementation. The ITOM provides day-to-day supervision of the IT Operations and Support Services team at Winter Park Resort.
The position is responsible for short term IT strategies including Winter Park Resort’s success in the areas of cost management, support service levels, and user support of various IT systems. The ITOM, in conjunction with the IT Director, is responsible for long term IT strategies consistent with the organization’s overall objectives.
The ITOM is responsible for the overall supervision and success of Winter Park Resort’s IT Support Services employees. The ITOM ensures that the IT Support Services organization is effective in assisting all users. The ITOM evaluates Support Services staffing and procedures on an ongoing basis to allow users to have the best support experience possible.
The ITOM will serve as an interaural link between Winter Park Resort and the Enterprise IT (EIT) organization. The ITOM will align resort initiatives with governing projects and initiatives as led by the EIT organization. It is critical to understand these governing initiatives and act as the advocate at the resort level.
The ITOM is responsible for the overall management of Winter Park Resort’s technical systems support including implementation, network and physical plant architecture, and computing systems architecture. In this role, the ITOM performs a variety of tasks including research, architecture design, conducting pilot installations, project management, ROI analysis, cost/benefit analysis, senior level support for infrastructure support issues and training.
The ITOM ensures the IT Support Services team has the tools and training necessary to adequately administer and support computers and IT systems within the enterprise (including troubleshoot and repair failed equipment or coordinate repair/replacement with outside vendor; upgrade operating system and application software as required). The position develops Key Performance Indicators to ensure computer reliability and support are continually improving.
Systems this position is responsible for include: all Windows/Unix/Linux servers both physical and virtual, all Windows/MacOS/mobile clients, all point-of-sale systems, all peripheral hardware including printers and scanners, network and physical plant infrastructure, physical server infrastructure, storage area network infrastructure, and all IT systems and network management software. Any future computer system hardware acquired by the organization will be managed by the ITOM.
The IT Operations Manager will follow all Winter Park policies and procedures, all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), and all health and sanitation codes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE: This position creates, and changes as necessary, the organizational structure within the IT Support Services team, in conjunction with the IT Director. The ITOM assigns and organizes major accountabilities and functions into effective and measurable units within this structure.
The Winter Park Resort campus, located in Winter Park, CO, is the primary location and organization that the ITOM supports. Additionally, the ITOM also manages IT services and support for the following:
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT: The ITOM ensures that Winter Park Resort has the caliber of IT Support Services Technicians required for its business. The ITOM recruits, assesses, and selects new team members and develops, motivates, evaluates, disciplines, and rewards direct reports in order to assure:
This position develops IT Support Services policies, and ensures direct reports understand and follow company and departmental policies.
The ITOM completes annual performance reviews for all direct reports at a specified time each year. The ITOM, together with the IT Director, establishes compensation adjustments for each direct report, and their direct reports in accordance with the business plan.

REVIEW AND CONTROL: The ITOM creates or reviews and approves:
TACTICAL SUPERVISION: The ITOM directs IT Support Services by establishing short range objectives and programs and ensures that these objectives are carried out.
STRATEGIC PLANNING: The ITOM, in conjunction with the IT Director, is responsible for updating and developing the IT Support Services component of Winter Park Resort’s long-term plans, ensuring that the strategic direction is in line with the organization’s overall objectives.
The ITOM participates in resort operations and IT management meetings. Additionally, the ITOM ensures that IT Support Service staff are aware of information brought forth during these meetings.
FINANCE: In conjunction with the IT Director, the ITOM directs and supervises the financial operations of IT Support Services including the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets. The ITOM approves and orders capital and operating purchases necessary for the operation and improvement of IT Support Services.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: The ITOM ensures that user and guest requests are addressed within the timelines and priorities set by IT and communicated to user community via service and support agreements or service level agreements. The ITOM is responsible for the development, updating and monitoring of service and support agreements or service level agreements. ‘Closed Within Standard’ indicators are closely monitored to insure timely responses are maintained.
This position will assist in providing 24 hour support of critical systems. Support can be in the form of software or maintenance, and/or interfacing with outside support companies.
The ITOM must ensure that service and support agreements exist with external entities for Winter Park Resort’s business critical IT hardware and software systems.
The ITOM, in conjunction with the IT Director, addresses the monthly security vulnerability report from the Alterra IT Security team.
COMMUNICATION: The ITOM coordinates and maintains effective communication between IT and other departments that receive support and services from IT. The ITOM maintains contact with IT Support Services staff to assess and positively impact moral within the department. The ITOM, in conjunction with the IT Director, ensures the IT Support Services staff is supportive of, and cooperative with the IT business analyst staff. The ITOM maintains weekly contact with the IT Director to provide input and follow up on issues.
EXTERNAL RELATIONS: The ITOM ensures that the IT Support Services staff members maintain effective communication with other IT staff including Alterra Enterprise IT teams and our sister resorts, vendors, external service providers, and support customers.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: The ITOM ensures a commitment to strengthening knowledge of various technologies through both company sponsored and self sponsored education, seminars, and research. In addition, the ITOM will make every effort to attend company sponsored education with a focus on management and supervisory skills.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology related studies or equivalent work experience.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable)
Most work will be performed in Winter Park, CO. However, occasional travel to the Greater Denver area, other Alterra Mountain Company resorts, and other locations may be required from time-to-time.

WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
