William James College announces openings for full-time Teaching Faculty Fellows in the Doctoral Clinical Psychology Department beginning
August 2023. The Fellowship offers a highly competitive salary and opportunities for career advancement at the College.
The
Teaching Faculty Fellowship aims to recruit, train, and mentor recent graduates who have completed their doctoral degrees in Clinical or
Counseling Psychology; and prepare new faculty to enter the nation’s professoriate. The primary aim of the Fellowship is to develop a
critical mass of exceptionally talented and well-trained faculty members who are historically underrepresented in academic settings. It
endeavors to equip Fellows with the skills, knowledge, and expertise to engage in paradigm shifting inclusive teaching, advising, and
research practices as well as in administrative and leadership positions in academia.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be (1) recent graduates from the field of Clinical or Counseling Psychology whose graduate degrees were
conferred in the past three years (including those who will complete their graduate studies by August 2023); and (2) individuals who
identify with groups that are not considered majority identities or that have historically been less visible in academia (e.g., LGBTQIA+,
individuals with disabilities, ethnically/racially minoritized individuals, military and veteran groups). Candidates with a strong interest
in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility as well as a demonstrated commitment to serving underserved communities are
encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities: Teaching Faculty Fellows are involved in teaching, advising, and research
supervision of graduate students. Additionally, they participate in didactic training on inclusive teaching and learning designs,
strength-based pedagogical approaches, and culturally empowering instructional strategies. Fellows actively engage in professional
development, scholarly, and program evaluation activities. They also receive faculty and peer mentorship throughout their enrollment in the
program. Of particular interest to the Fellowship are candidates with a background—or interest in developing expertise—in
consultation, personality and cognitive assessment, program development and evaluation, and substance use disorders. We are seeking
applicants with interest in addressing disparities in these domains and/or whose work has focused on behavioral health equity for unserved
groups and underserved communities. Fellows may teach relevant courses as well as other generalist foundational courses in the Clinical
Psychology Department.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Psy.D. or a Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling
Psychology from an APA-accredited institution, have completed an APA-accredited internship, have earned their degrees within the past three
years (through August 2023), have teaching and clinical experience, and be licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts. A demonstrated
record of relevant scholarly work is preferred, including community service and engagement, organizational leadership, and innovative and
entrepreneurial activities. Successful candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and
multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of
inclusion. The Department welcomes applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths, who may have taken time off
for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia.
