Job Description:

The Biology Department at Westfield State University seeks applications for part-time, non-benefited, instructors. This particular job posting is for Biology I (Introduction to Cellular and Molecular Biology) and Anatomy and Physiology I and II for Fall 2023 and an “Open Pool” position for Spring 2024. There are currently no available openings for Spring 2024, but when an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on file as needed.

The Part-Time Faculty Pool is open to qualified and competent experts, external to the University faculty who possess skills, education and experience in an academic and/or professional area. All part-time faculty are responsible for providing our students with a high-quality learning environment. Responsibilities include instruction of laboratory learning modes; instructional preparation; assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion; availability to students by appointment when mutually convenient; course syllabus; a limited number of faculty meetings.

General Statement of Duties: The Biology Department seeks applications for part-time, non-benefited, faculty to teach courses to support our department’s mission. We seek applications for part time faculty in Biology I, Anatomy and Physiology I, and Anatomy and Physiology II for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.

COURSES AVAILABLE FOR FALL 2023:

Biology I Laboratory on Monday (12:35 ? 3:25p), Tuesday (12:45 ? 3:35p), Wednesday (12:35 ? 3:25p), and/or Friday (12:35 ? 3:25p). Anatomy and Physiology I on Wednesday (12:35-3:25p) and Anatomy and Physiology II on Thursday (12:45-3:35p).

COURSES AVAILABLE FOR SPRING 2024:

Instructors to teach A&P I and II labs and BIOL 129 lab.

NOTE: We seek to develop a pool of instructors to fulfill possible future needs for the following courses

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Teach course(s) and laboratories in specific discipline
• Responsible for instructional preparation and assessment of student performance
• Provide assistance to students by appointment

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Biology or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the collegiate level who can promote and advance diversity and inclusion.
• Biology I experience

Additional Information:

Salary:
For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.
