Job
Summary
Provides assistive care to patients. Facilitates the efficient delivery of patient care, supports the
professional role of
the licensed staff, and provides support and assistance as directed by
licensed staff in rendering basic healthcare to the patient.
Assists with clerical and administrative
functions as a multi-skilled auxiliary worker.
Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities
1. Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program or equivalency required;
2. Demonstrated phlebotomy skills
3.
Must have knowledge of medical terminology and basic non-invasive diagnostic equipment
(blood pressure cuff, stethoscope and
ophthalmoscope and otoscope) as well as a general
understanding of basic physical examination.
4. Must have skills and relevant hands
on experience acquired from working in a procedure
based medical environment.
5. Must have good desktop computer skills and have a
general knowledge of computers, printer,
telephone, adding machine, copy machine, fax machine, scanner and shredders.
6. Must have
skills necessary in order to set up document formats in Word, Excel, and any other
software program required by this position.
7. Must
have general knowledge of audio-video recording systems. Familiarity with the Internet
is required.
8. Excellent verbal and written
communications skills. Applicant must be able to read, write,
speak, and comprehend English.
9. Applicant must have excellent
interpersonal skill necessary to interact well with patients, staff,
students, physicians, and the public; be culturally
sensitive.

Required Qualifications
1. Education: Any combination of education, training
or experience that provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities. Graduate Equivalency Diploma or High School Diploma.
Medical
Assistant Certificate/ Certified Nursing Assistant/Licensed Vocational Nurse from an accredited course of study is
required.
2. Experience: 1 – 3 years prior experience in a medical office environment. Knowledge of
medical terminology and various
types of medical testing equipment or devices. Experience in a
clinical medical setting is required and ideal applicant would possess a
working knowledge of
health insurance eligibility and benefits processes. Bilingual (English / Spanish, English /
Vietnamese, English
/ Chinese) preferred.
3. Certification: CMA (AAMA), BLS, CPR

Prepares patients for
examinations and diagnostic procedures according to clinic procedures
such as recording temperatures, pulse rate, blood pressure, height
and weight and responses to
standardized medical history questions, including but not limited to allergies and current

suture removal, ear lavages, administration of vaccines,
autoclaving and spore testing, peak
and flow and injections (IM, subcutaneous and intradermal).

Amendments (CLIA) Waved Lab tests such as urine

patient phlebotomies in accordance with clinic
procedures and providers orders.

Acts as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination as requested and
assists
with procedures. Assist students and also serve as a Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese

reporting outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of

scanning into the patients electronic medical records.
Knowledge of documentation in the
Electronic Medical Records. Obtaining medical records from other providers, laboratories and

needed for any DME
and/or medication not covered by insurance.
