Definition:
The School of Art and Design at West Valley College is seeking a talented person to fill the position of Counselor. The counselor will work in collaboration with academic programs, student services programs, and campus-wide committees in the implementation, coordination, and overall operation of all aspects of counseling-related functions for the college. Reporting directly to the Dean of Art and Design, counseling responsibilities include providing academic, career, and personal counseling, and possible teaching.
West Valley College is in a beautiful park like setting on 143 wooded acres, just minutes from the heart of Silicon Valley. Our staff and faculty are among the most qualified in the state and our students appreciate the college for its friendly staff and supportive atmosphere. We seek a counselor to be part of the leadership team in the School of Art and Design. With this new counseling position, the college expects to build on the strengths of our committed faculty, outstanding campus outreach to the community, and strong academic reputation. The counselor will work with faculty, staff and students in Performing Arts, Visual Arts, as well as Architecture, Interior, and Fashion Design.

In addition to counseling, this counselor is also expected to participate in the professional and academic work of the college. Assignment:
This is a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track position that begins August 1, 2023. The assignment consists of counseling and teaching. Some evening and weekend work may be required. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Federation of Teachers (WVMFT / AFT Local 6554).
