Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Provide psychological counseling services to the University
Community, including screening and diagnostic assessment, individual, couples, and group therapy for students.
Provide supervision to
staff/interns, including monitor electronic record-keeping, clinical notes, and oversee diagnostic formulation and treatment planning,
counseling skills and techniques, policies and procedures.
Provide crisis intervention and critical incident de-briefing to campus
groups and the University at-large.
Maintain confidential client files and appropriate record-keeping, according to professional,
ethical, legal and IACS standards.
Design, implement and present psycho-educational programming on a broad range of psychological
issues.
Provide liaison and outreach to University programs/schools, housing, student organizations and other groups.
Serve
as a resource/consultant to administration, faculty, and staff, aimed at bringing a psychological perspective to University
concerns.
Provide interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Attend staff and professional development meetings,
contributing ideas for on-going improvements and strategic planning for CAPS.
Engage in continuing education to improve clinical
skills.
Prepare appropriate printed or web-based materials to promote CAPS services.
Network with community-based services as
needed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of Master’s Degree in
Counseling, Social Work, or Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Applicants with doctorate degrees in these disciplines will also be
considered.
Must currently possess full licensure or ability to obtain full licensure for independent practice in the State of
Michigan.
Demonstrated high degree of sensitivity, interest, understanding, ability, knowledge and experience working with students
from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. This value is strongly endorsed and embraced by CAPS.
Three years of
post licensure clinical experience, preferably in a University Counseling Center, working with individuals in varying states of emotional
distress.
Sensitivity, creativity and an understanding of developmental issues of both traditional and nontraditional college
students.
Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including
ability to give group presentations.
Strong organizational skills.
Reliable and innovative with customer service
orientation.
Commitment to working with an enthusiastic and dedicated multidisciplinary team.
